The Quest 2 GPS kit for the Toyota FJ Cruiser is so authentic it even has a Toyota part number. I know this part is normally outrageously overpriced. For $600 - $900, there are much better systems available. However, I found a guy on EBAY selling these for $130. Now for that price it is a hell of a deal. I bought one of these kits from him a couple weeks back. It rocks. With its own speaker you get turn by turn direction with no need to tap into you sound system. It matches the dash flawlessly, and folds down into the dash when not in use (mount replaces the gat box). Plus you can remove it from its mount in about a half a second and take it with you on a boat or a hike. Installation took all of about 45 min.
Losing the gat box was the only down side to this MOD, but it was well worth the trade.

Here is a link to the seller’s page if anyone else is interested.

BoPro.. Did the unit you got have the lock-out so you can't do anything with it while you're driving? Also, since it's a discontinued model with Garmin how is the support and ability to update maps? The roads around here change daily and the Magellan unit I have that is about 5 years old has no way to update the maps to match todays Las Vegas roads. A couple times I was on a major road and it was showing that I was in the middle of the desert. I like the idea of the unit, but want to make sure it's updateable before putting out the money.

You can update the maps. Even though the model is discontinued, it still takes the standard Garmin map and POI software and updates. And yes is does lock you out while the vehicle is moving, but not from all functions. You just can't input addresses or anything that requires inputing text. You can still select from destinations that you already have saved.

I got one of these. It is locked down to a Toyota firmware only, you can't easily update it. Also, it doesn't seem to have very good reception, not sure why yet, but I can barely get a lock when it's in the car. It works fine indoors at home. Hopefully an external antenna isn't necessary. Also, it doesn't seem to charge from USB when plugged into a PC, but charges fine in the dash. The dash mount almost fits my cellphone in it, which is much more capable than the Garmin unit. If only I had a way to mold my own plastic mount.

Upon further review, and after updating the maping software on the thing, I have not found any updated maps and still have gaps in the newer areas of town. I'm sure they will eventually release an effective update. I'm still happy with the unit. After all, I only paid $130, and my gat box was allready busted from one of those air horn cans exploding inside of it.
